We recently got some very exciting news...right around the time I was diagnosed with Myeloma, we were also blessed with a pregnancy! This was a little sooner then we were originally planning for but it seems just the right time in

We have had 2 ultrasounds and we've gotten to see our 2 inch long baby’s heartbeat both times! Pretty awesome. I am about 12 weeks along and the baby is due Feb 14 or 17th! The picture is from about 9 weeks.
We also met with Dr. Bensinger at Seattle Cancer Care Alliance, which was very informative. He recommended that because the myeloma is asymptomatic and especially now that I’m pregnant, that we hold off on traditional treatment until after the baby is born and I have recovered. Then he recommended a high dose of chemotherapy followed by a stem cell transplant. He mentioned a not yet fully developed immunotherapy that may be ready by the time I should look into treatment options.
We will also be meeting with Dr. Kaplan at Swedish Cancer Institute for routine check-ins during the pregnancy. Our first appointment with him is Friday. We have an appointment with Dr. Angove at the Health & Wellness Center next Monday to check in as well.
Basically, until the baby is born my treatment plan is to continue on the supplement regimen from Dr. Angove, a healthy diet and trust God--that He who began this good work, will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ. We are in good hands.
